Andrew Waisempacher, Jr., age 92 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born at home in Yonkers, NY, June 1, 1924, son of the late Andrew and Anna Repka Waisempacher, he had resided for the last fifty-two years on Bonetown Road in the home he built with his own hands.

A 1942 graduate of Flemington High School, Andrew went on to serve the United States Navy during World War II. He faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged in March of 1946. Among his many military skills and duties were teaching crews how to properly dismantle and dispose of enemy bombs.

Andrew was a self-employed carpenter and builder in Hunterdon and the surrounding counties and built many area homes and buildings. He and his “team,” comprising plumbers, electricians and the like, all were friends who believed in old-fashioned, dedicated service. He was committed to doing it right the first time and always did business on a handshake.

A Charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ, Andrew served as Treasurer, Secretary, was on the council, was Chair of the Building Committee and served on many other various committees during his life. His faith in being a kind and good person is what helped to drive him each and every day.

Andrew also believed in serving his community and was a Life Member of the Raritan Township Fire Co., Station 21. He had formerly served as the organizations President and was active until he could no longer drive. He was honored recently when several of the young members of Station 21 visited and he could see the future of volunteerism and dedication.

Fishing, camping, horse-shoe pitching and traveling were also pastimes that Andrew enjoyed. Above all else though, he was devoted to his family, especially his wife whom he had known for the past seventy-two years, Margaret Hliva Waisempacher. The two had an innate connection from the beginning; it all came natural and there was just a genuine feeling of comfort with the other. They were engaged on Flag Day in 1946 and were married on May 8, 1948 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury, CT.

To sum up Andrew’s life, one only need to look at his High School yearbook which stated underneath his photo by the yearbook committee, “To know him is to love him.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Milan and Samuel and a brother-in-law, George Lesko.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Hliva Waisempacher; a son, Andrew John Waisempacher of Raritan Township, NJ; a sister, Mary Lesko of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Elbert and Jane Waisempacher of Ringoes, NJ; several nieces, nephews, extended family; and many friends.

Visitation and Funeral Services officiated by Rev. David Errickson are private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will take place in the family plot at Lower Amwell Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.
