Anthony David “Tony” Sassano

December 29, 1960 - May 20, 2020

Anthony David “Tony” Sassano, age 59 years, of Three Bridges, NJ, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ, under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, December 29, 1960, son of Alvina Yago Sassano and the late Joseph Michael Sassano, he had resided in Three Bridges since 1963.

Tony had a compassionate heart. He would always display a desire to help people in need and demonstrated it by acting on that desire wherever and whenever he could. Anyone who had the privilege of having Tony as a friend knew that they couldn’t have had a more loyal one.

He had a deep love for God. One of his favorite things to do was to read and study his Bible. He had a brilliant mind for details and remembering things. If you gave him a Bible verse reference he was usually able to quote it. Through his love for God and compassion, he ministered in places like Belize, Dominican Republic, and Tanzania by building churches and schools for the people there. There are many still today and will be in the future benefiting from his labors.

Tony was very creative. This showed up in his occupation as a carpenter. He had an aesthetic eye; and while he would build homes, he eventually moved into designing them as well. He was a gifted artist. Tony would paint exquisite landscapes and portraits, effortlessly. Though he never painted professionally, many family members and friends enjoyed and benefitted from his art work.

Though Tony was a quiet person, he was a person of great depth and carried a presence that could not be denied. He was so loved by his family and friends. And will be greatly missed by all. We will hold him in our hearts and remember him always.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved mother, are a sister and brother-in-law, the Revs. Carol and Christopher Ball of Rush, NY; a brother, Michael of Grand Marais, MN; his niece, Sarah and husband, Dave Wright, and nephews Josiah and Elijah Ball and his wife, Sarah; and two great nephews, Emerson and Simon Wright.

To the Sassano family, Sorry for your loss, just heard through a friend. My memories of Tony were ,of him having a very creative, hands on practicality and artistic abilities. It has been a long time, just wanted to reach out and give my sincerest condolences'. In Gods hands "Tony "and a place in the Lords mansion with many rooms. Sincerely Norbert TinWin

I give my condolences to the Sassano family I remember Tony from Hunterdon Christian Church where he was a member especially when his friend Robert dutcher lived in New Jersey the both of them came to church together and Tony still came ocasionally after Robert moved back to Colorado on thing I remember about Tony is he could play the piano and after Church Services he would once in a while play the piano in the church. Myself and the rest of the members of Hunterdon Christian Church will surely miss him. Thankfully his suffering is over and he is now in a better place which is with God in Heaven.

I didn't know Tony personally, but I met him at Lighthouse Fellowship where his sister, my friends Carol and husband Chris pastored. I pray that the family is consoled knowing how much he loved the Lord, and know what a sweet reunion that will be when you are joined again in heaven. Keeping you all in thoughts and prayers.

My beloved Tony, as your Aunt Pat and Uncle Ken send these words of love to family, yes you will be missed. Yes we had conversations of your Bible, which I noticed on a visit that you had it well marked and noted. We had a beautiful talk about the faith you had in the words in that book. Oh, yes you were also good on one word inspiration when we were in the kitchen talking, yes I and Uncle Ken are miles away but we send love to your family..I will always remember you as “the bare foot carpenter”..Uncle Ken remembers your beautiful garden. At a time in the future we will meet again, sleep for a bit in that sleep of death, your pain is no more, loved by all..

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I’ve known Tony for almost 40 years. He’s been a great friend. He will be dearly missed and forever in my thoughts. ?

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. We are really going to miss Tony, we were friends for over 25 years, and I have so many great memories of him. So glad we were able to see him a few times over the past few weeks but life around here isn’t going to be the same without him.
