Bernice M. Upton, 75, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon, NJ. She was born on January 27, 1927 in Maplewood, NJ, the daughter of the late Edwin and Madeline Judd Knorr and lived in Somerville before moving to Readington in 1958. Mrs. Upton graduated from Columbia High School, South Orange, NJ and Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA. Until her retirement in 1987 she was a laboratory technician employed by R.C.A. Corp., Branchburg. She was a horse-riding enthusiast, specializing in dressage and volunteered with the Somerset Hills Handicapped Riders. She traveled extensively about the world and was an animal rights supporter and advocate. Her husband William M. Upton died 1989. She is survived by 2 cousins Barbara Costello of Sterling, MA and Edith Clack of Ft. Collins, CO. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen’s Cemetery, Flemington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
