Charles “Charlie” Koehler, 89 years, of Annandale (Clinton Township), NJ, died peacefully at his home on Friday, April 7, 2017.
He was born on January 12, 1928 in New York City, NY, living in Hawthorne, NJ before moving to Annandale, NJ in 2008.
A United States Navy veteran, Charles worked as a draftsman for PSE&G in Newark, NJ for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Flemington, NJ, and a member of the Lebanon Seniors.
Charles will be forever remembered for his sense of humor and told everyone he met a joke that left them with a smile. With his strong belief in God, he enjoyed reading biblical history and had a deep faith that guided him throughout his life. His legacy will live on through the many charities he donated to. He will always be remembered by his family as “Helen’s Hunny Bunny.”
He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Koehler in 1978, and a son, Charles Lloyd Koehler in 1977.
Surviving are his loving wife of thirty-seven years with whom he joined hands in marriage on November 27, 1980, Helen Koehler; his step-daughter, Maria S. Hannis and son-in-law, Donald B. Hannis of Bloomsbury, NJ; a grandson, Nicholas A. Hannis and his wife, Sarah Hannis of Bloomsbury, NJ; and their two sons Liam and Connor, and a granddaughter, Kathryn A. Hannis of Boston, MA.
Funeral services officiated by Father Anastasios Kousoulas will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 85 Voorhees Corner Road, Flemington, NJ, 08822 under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. This will be preceded by a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
Interment will follow in Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ.
