Cora Ann Casey, age 46 years, of South Bound Brook, NJ, died on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her home.
Born in North Hempstead, NY, August 22, 1974, daughter of Susan Monahan Casey and Joseph Michael Casey of Raritan Township, NJ, Cora had lived in New Jersey all her life, growing up in the Maple Glen development of Raritan Township, NJ.
A 1992 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Cora went on to earn her BA in Communications from Douglass College at Rutgers University, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
With an omnipresent smile and a personality that invited immediate friendship, Cora was able to talk to anyone, as she was able to relate to anyone. She saw all people as God’s children and respected individuality.
Quick on her feet, her Irish wit was at the forefront of her dynamic personality. The middle of three daughters born to Susan and Joseph, Cora had many aspirations and loved her family and friends extremely deeply. Though her life was short by duration, her impact on the hearts of so many will not soon be forgotten.
The author Kelly Roper wrote a poem titled, “Consider the Shamrock” in which we lovingly recall God’s promises upon death:
Consider the shamrock, how St. Patrick said
It represents the Holy Trinity.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
And the Heavenly realms that be.
We’re taught that if we follow God
and strive to do His will,
One day we’ll go to our reward
In His shining city on a hill.
Take heart that our dearly departed,
Now knows the face of God,
And the Lord’s presence radiates all around,
An encompasses him/her with love.
So each time you see a shamrock,
Remember your loved one that’s passed.
Strive to be worthy of Heaven,
Where you’ll be reunited at last.
To honor Cora, is to continue to live your life with her love of all persons at the forefront of your actions, and your steadfast faith in a good and loving God guiding you through both the brightest, and darkest moments of life. To live this way, is to keep Cora very much alive.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas J. and Marion C. Monahan, as well as by her paternal grandparents, Margaret B. and Joseph J. Casey.
Surviving are her devoted parents, Susan and Joseph Casey; her sister and brother-in-law, Betsy and Eric Smith; her sister, Carolyn Casey; her adored niece, Mackenzie Grace Smith; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family; and many friends made wherever she went.
