David Victor Goldstein, age 74 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, June 1, 2015 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born and in raised in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Leo and Esther Zelvin Goldstein, he had resided in Raritan Township since 1977, having formerly lived in Hoffman Estates, IL and Teaneck, NJ.
A salesman by trade, David had worked for American Cyanamid and the Lambertville Beacon. Upon retiring, he worked for several years as a substitute teacher in various schools throughout Hunterdon County and some say this was truly his calling.
David embodied the sense of being a true “renaissance man” with many wide and varied interests, including fishing, photography, collecting stamps and coins, gardening, all outdoor activities and anything related to any sport, baseball being his favorite.
He was a longtime member of Congregation Knesseth Israel, Bound Brook, NJ and was formerly the President of Congregation Bet Tikva, Flemington, NJ.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Weissman Goldstein, with whom he would of been married to for forty-eight years on June 11.
He is also survived by two children, Rachel and husband Marcus Simon of Falls Church, VA and Stephanie Goldstein and her wife, Erin Still of Townson, MD; four grandchildren, Emily Simon, Leah Goldstein, Zachary Simon and Benjamin Goldstein; and many extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ, officiated by Rabbi Jack Kramer. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Route 109 (Farmingdale Road), Lindenhurst, NY (www.mtararatcemetery.com).
