Donald E. Shimkus

Donald E. Shimkus, 69, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township. He was born on August 4, 1933 in Elizabeth, NJ, the son of the late Anthony and Mildred (Wood) Shimkus and lived in Martinsville, NJ and Warren Township before moving to Raritan Township in 1986. Until his retirement he was a Tool and Die Maker employed by Illinois Toolworks, Somerset, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Shimkus; a son, Donald Shimkus, Jr. of Garner, NC, a daughter, Toni Ciarlariello of Raritan Township, a daughter, Diana Robertello of Kunkeltown, PA, a daughter, Marie Romanello of Garwood, NJ, a daughter, Laura Shimkus of Hillsborough, NJ, and a son, Matthew Shimkus of Raritan Township; one brother, Richard Shimkus; two sisters, Mildred Christie of Lakewood, NJ, and Barbara Jean Moody of Piscataway, NJ; and eleven grandchildren, Morgan, Marc, Natalie, Christopher, Aaron, Ian, Jillian, Jordan, Jerome, Dean and Jayla. Mr. Shimkus was predeceased by his son, Frederick Shimkus who died in 1988 and by two brothers, Robert and Edward Shimkus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive Flemington, NJ 08822.
