Edeltraud Anna Welzel, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 18, 1925 in Vienna, Austria, daughter of the late Josef and Anna Tenschert Novosad, she was raised in Vienna and emigrated to the United States in 1959, settling in Downington, PA and moving to Raritan Township four years ago.
A seamstress by trade, Edeltraud was an inspector for almost thirty years with Wyeth Laboratories, West Chester, PA. After retiring from Wyeth, she went on to become an aide working with those suffering from Alzheimer’s, a job which gave her much satisfaction.
She was fiercely devoted to her family and her legacy of love and resilience will be always remembered. She traveled the world during her lifetime and greatly enjoyed learning about and experiencing new cultures. Most recently she was an attendee of Briteside Adult Day Center, Flemington, NJ, where she made many new friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years in 1977, Gustav Anton Welzel; twin sons, Gustav and Herbert in 1945; and a sister, Hildegard Novosad.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Margit and Bodo Langstaedtler and her son, Gus Welzel, all of Raritan Township, NJ; two brothers, Herbert and wife, Inge Novosad and Edward Novosad and his longtime partner, Lucy; her grandchildren, Paul Welzel and his wife, Alisia, Kurt Langstaedtler, Elke Langstaedtler and Petra Dittrich and her husband, Frank; her great grandchildren, Lindsey Langstaedtler and her husband Jaron Nixon, Tre Mansdoerfer, Katja Mansdoerfer and Anika Mansdoerfer, Oliver Dittrich, Fabian Dittrich and Yvonne Dittrich; her great great grandchildren, Shain Nixon; several nieces and nephews; her lifelong best buddies, Fran and Chris; her grand-dog, Bruce; and many extended family and friends.
Memorial Services and Interment are private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
