Elizabeth Anne Stites, age 66 years, of Hamilton, NJ, died peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021, surrounded by her family at Robert Wood Johnson University Hosptial, Hamilton, NJ.

Liz was born on September 3, 1954 in Flemington, NJ to William E. and Betty Jean Adams. She was the oldest of six children, graduated from Hunterdon Central High School and was a former member of the Flemington United Methodist Church. Liz moved to Florida in the early 80’s where she eventually met her husband, Robert Stites. They raised two beautiful children Robyn and Alex. Liz was a devoted Christian and was very involved with ministries at First Assembly of God in Ft. Myers, FL.

She had a passion for ballet, teaching children and treasured her time spent with family and friends.

Liz loved spending her free time at the beach.

She formerly was the Director at Growing God’s Way Preschool in Ft. Myers, FL.

Liz was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Stites, whom she remained best friends, and her father William E. Adams.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Jean Adams; her siblings, William E. Adams, Jr. (JoAnn), Jayne LaMothe (Bob), Holly Thatcher, James Adams (Holly Gay), John Adams (Colleen); her children, Robyn Stites Shutak (Brad) and Alex Stites (Shelby); grandchildren, Paige, Jamar, Allison, Henry, and Sophia; a great grandson, Kyree; and many nieces and nephews.

Liz was known for her loving, kind and compassionate spirit. Holidays and family gatherings were always treasured times for Liz.

Private Celebration of Life Services will be held this summer.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Adoption Center, North Branch Center, P.O. Box 5281, 3201 Route 22 East,North Branch, NJ 08876 or the Serenity Hospice Care, 56 Georgetown Road, Bordentown, NJ 08505.

Liz was older and on my school bus, last stop before HCHS. (Old farmhouse, at the corner of 523 and River Road, Flemington Junction. She was adorably cute in her cheerleader uniform and, regrettably, I was probably too shy to ever talk to her. Blessings to all of you; may this beautiful woman Rest In Peace.

Dear Sister Belle, We will always be Liz, Billy, Jayne, Holly, Jimmy, John! You were the best big sister. Our memories are endless and forever in our hearts. From picking flowers from Nana’s garden, eating cherries from the trees to enjoying pancakes on Saturday morning. When we moved to the country I will always remember our outside adventures of building snowmen, riding bikes, birthdays we celebrated together, dance recitals, the Flemington Fair, Voorhees State Park and the wonderful family holidays we enjoyed together. I will never forget the years we had together after I moved to Florida to be by you. Our Sunday boating and beach days, family cookouts and priceless sister times we spent together. As we raised our families, our children played together and created bonds that will never end. Sister, when you became ill, and we moved you back to New Jersey we made different but new memories. You loved reflecting back on the good old days. Walking downtown Flemington, visiting family and spending time together and visiting our grandparents at the cemetery. Liz, you taught me to love God with all my heart and to trust in him. To let his light shine through me in all I do. The best gift you ever gave me was your love which will forever be felt in my heart. I will continue to feel your love and presence in each morning sunrise, the gentle breeze of the day and the warm glow of each beautiful sunset. Always loved and never to be forgotten! Aunt Liz, you will be greatly missed. Thanks for your constant positivity and instilling in me a love of Florida. You showed me what it meant to live fearlessly with God and what being a true Christian was all about. Have fun with Dad and Rob, until we meet again...

As Alex’s 3rd grade teacher I fondly remember Liz as my room mother at SW Florida Christian Academy. Not only was she a diligent worker but she always demonstrated joy and a love for others. Alex: if you see this, I still remember you and your mom. Stay close to the Lord who will be your strength.

You will be missed aunt Liz. I hope you are dancing and singing up there. Say hi to uncle Ron for me. Love you

I’ve always remembered your mom fondly from when we we’re growing up. I’m deeply sorry for your loss.

All though it has been many years since I have any interaction with Liz or her family, she was a walking buddy to and from Grammar School at Samuel Fleming Elementary school in Flemington. Her Grandfather helped us across Main St. at the Court House. The fantastic Birthday parties her Mom held for her in their back yard. My deepest condolence to Your entire Liz. I know you are in our Fathers arms.
