Elsie R. Crann, age 89 years, of Pennington, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell, NJ.
Born in East Orange, NJ, June 24, 1926, daughter of the late John and Elsie Paletta Manna, she had formerly resided in West Chester, PA for thirty years, having lived most of her life in West Orange, NJ. She also maintained a residence at “Ocean Beach Shores Club,” Lavallette, NJ.
A graduate of Clifford Scott High School in East Orange, NJ, Elsie worked for many years as a bookkeeper with Merkin & Co., East Orange, NJ. She also worked as a secretary with Schultz and Berle, also in East Orange.
A longtime communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in West Chester, PA, she also faithfully attended St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ with her daughter and family.
Elsie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a perfectionist but was also known for her spontaneity as well as her open-mindedness. She was very active and her family was always at the center of those loving and caring actions.
In addition to spending time at the Jersey Shore, Elsie was an exceptional golfer, whose six holes-in-one earned her a spot in the record books of the Golf Hall of Fame. She loved to watch all sports, and the times tailgating at her beloved Rutgers Football games will be remembered by all who ever attended a game with her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of forty years, Edward Joseph Crann, Jr., who died in 1992 as well as by two sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Edward J. Crann III and Wendy Crann of Berea, OH; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda J. and Brian Janke of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother, Robert Manna of Cedar Grove, NJ; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Albert DiAntonio of East Hanover, NJ; six grandchildren, Kevin, Wayne and Shannon Janke, Jay and Patrick Crann and Sera Nelson; and many extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
