Elvira Del Mastro, age 95 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in New York City, NY on March 21, 1922, daughter of the late Phillip and Pauline Licitra, she was raised in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Massapequa Park, NY for many years prior to moving to Readington Township in 2009.
A dressmaker by trade, Elvira was a Teacher for the City of New York, teaching dress and pattern making at the High School of Fashion Industries and the Sara J. Hale School, both in Brooklyn, NY.
Extremely artistic by nature, she also enjoyed painting landscapes, flowers and many other varied subjects. Outgoing and sociable, she enjoyed her time at Rolling Hills where she was known for her wonderful singing and impeccable trivia knowledge.
A woman of deep faith, Elvira was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ. To sum up her life is simple: she loved her family, loved her work and most importantly, loved her God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Del Mastro in 1986 as well as by her three brothers, George, Freddy and Silvie.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Rosanna Del Mastro; her grandson, Addison Del Mastro; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Kenneth Brighenti, Ph.D., will take place on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the Church on Friday morning.
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY. It is the families request to not have a procession to the cemetery, so everyone is asked to meet at the Cemetery office no later than 1:30 p.m.
Elvira will lie in repose on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
