Frances Marie Baker Macaulay, age 93 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born on June 16, 1929 in Tuxedo, NY, daughter of the late Channing Nicholas Baker and Edna Althea Hammersley Baker, Frances had formerly lived in Lebanon, Holland Township, and Bloomsbury, NJ, prior to moving to Raritan Township several years ago.
With a wry sense of humor, Frances was passionate about education and ensured that her children knew its value, as well as that they always strove to do the right thing by others. Her family was extremely important to her, and she was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and encouraged them to follow their dreams, always.
A hard worker, Frances earned her BA from Antioch College in Ohio was was a mathematician and Editor at A.M. Best for many years.
Even though she had a scientific brain, she had a keen artistic eye, and operated a small side business painting custom needlepoint canvas and other fine art projects. She had a fondness for animals and nature, and especially had an affinity for bird-watching. A proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she was also a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and enjoyed tracing her family roots and heritage.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Albert Darby Macaulay III; and her siblings, Channing N. Baker, Jr., Martha B. Holmes, and Edna “Dene” Breedis.
Surviving are her children, Melissa M. and her husband, Carmine Federico, Althea M. and her husband, William Fejes, A. Darby and his wife, Robin Macaulay, Amanda M. Furtis and her husband, Dion Heraghty, and Angus B. and his wife, Cindy Van Doren Macaulay; her grandchildren, Giancarlo Federico, April Frances Federico, Jess Fejes-Gartland, Stephanie R. Cohen, William M. Fejes, Macaulay D. Fejes, A. Darby Macaulay V, Derek Macaulay, Trevor Furtis, Maxwell Macaulay, and Jensen Macaulay; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; and many dear friends.
A gathering followed by a life celebration service were private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ 08822.
