Fred Joseph Matyiku, age 79 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died suddenly on Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home.
Born in Newark, NJ, July 8, 1938, son of the late Vincent and Mary Toth Matyiku, he had lived in the Croton section of Raritan Township for the past thirty years, formerly living in Warren Township and Irvington, NJ.
A tool and die maker, he had worked for many years prior to retirement at Medtech in South Plainfield, NJ and J.G. Tilp in Union, NJ.
Fred was an outdoors-man and loved anything to do with nature. He was a longtime and loyal member of the Croton Rod & Gun Club. Proud of his Hungarian heritage, he enjoyed going to festivals and all things Hungarian.
If one were to ask Fred about himself, he would tell you that he was the most loyal Republican in Hunterdon County, NJ. He diligently supported the party in its local endeavors and enjoyed discussing politics.
Above all else though, when Fred was asked about his biggest accomplishment in life, he answered simply that it was his son, Fred. Being a father and a grandfather contained his life’s most precious moments and his legacy will be that of a loyal and loving family man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jahn Matyiku in 1997 as well as by a brother, Stephen V. Matyiku.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Fred J. and Susan Matyiku of Jupiter, FL; two step-sons and their spouses, Jeffrey and Ruth Ann Page of West Milford, NJ and Eric and Jill Page of Phoenixville, PA; his grandchildren, Zachary Matyiku of Detroit, MI, Hanna Matyiku of San Francisco, CA and Joey Matyiku of Providence, RI; a brother, Richard V. Matyiku of Union, NJ; a sister-in-law, Anne Matyiku of Red Bank, NJ; his former wife, Gloria Johnson Badway of Plant City, FL; and many extended family and friends.
