Frederick “Fred” John Richer, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday evening, July 24, 2015 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born on December 21, 1924, he was raised in Serling, NJ before moving to Raritan Township in 1962.
A World War II veteran of the United States Army, Fred was honorably discharged at the war’s end at the rank of Corporal and received a Purple Heart after being injured in battle.
He was a self employed carpenter who could fix almost anything. A perfectionist, he put his heart into all that he did, from being a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to his work helping others. Fred will also be remembered as a pipe and cigar aficionado.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty-two years, Julia Kitt Richter in 2006 as well as by his daughter, Joy McCulick.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosemarie Richter of Milford, PA; a son, Ronald Richter of Raritan Township, NJ; a son, Scott Richter of Raritan Township, NJ; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his caregiver of the past four years, Nadia Estella; and many friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Gugliotta for his care and friendship to Fred over the past several years.
Funeral services and interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ will be private under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
