Geralynn Marie Murphy, age 56 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at home, with her loving husband, David, by her side and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born in Newark, NJ, December 6, 1964, daughter of Joseph Anthony Calvetto and Nancy Lawler Calvetto, she was raised in Toms River, NJ, and had lived in Somerville, and North Plainfield, NJ, as well as Garden City, NY, prior to moving to Flemington many years ago.
A graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Toms River, NJ, Geralynn would go on to earn her BA in Sociology from Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD.
Loving people, her employment usually revolved around helping others in a customer service role. She worked for many years as a ticket agent with Pam Am, based out of JFK Airport, and also served as a systems analyst for Chubb in Branchburg, NJ. Most recently she served as a customer service representative for Labcorp where client satisfaction was her number one priority; she would always fight for what was right and fair for them.
Kind and compassionate, Geralynn was a former member of the Raritan Township Fire Company Auxiliary where she volunteered countless hours to support a vital public safety entity. From baking for various events, to moving plants around for the annual Mother’s day sale, to decorating the engine for the annual Santa run, she was there for everything, with her hearty laugh bringing a smile to all present. Additionally, she volunteered and helped produce the Flemington South community newsletter and served on the recreation committee.
In the mid 1990’s, on a blind date with David Murphy, Geralynn would find her soul mate. Love at first site for them both, that initial date at Overlook Park lasted more than thirteen hours. They would marry on October 4, 1997 at St. Gertrude Church, Pine Beach, NJ and share a life of love and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gerard and Agnes Lawler, as well as by her paternal grandparents, Dominic and Margaret Calvetto.
Surviving are her husband, David; her parents, Nancy and Joseph Calvetto; her siblings, Michelle Constantine and her husband, Dave, Jay and Mary Calvetto, and Mike and Jean Calvetto; five nephews and two nieces; her loving felines, Lila and Gizmo; and many friends.
