Gloria A. Gwizdz (nee DeCecchis), 90, devoted wife of the late Edward R. Gwizdz and adoring mother of Geraldine, Gregory and his wife, Marion, and Geoffrey and his wife, Tina, peacefully left this earth on Friday, October 13, 2023, with her loving family at her side.
Gloria was born to Florence (nee Ferrara) and Orlando DeCecchis and was raised in the Peterstown section of Elizabeth, NJ. She was first generation Italian American and had great pride in her heritage.
Gloria married the love of her life, her Polish Prince, Edward, and they settled in Union, NJ, with their three beautiful children. In addition to raising her three children, Gloria worked as a Bookkeeper at J. Rothenberg & Son jewelers in Millburn, NJ, and traveled the world with her husband.
Later in her life Gloria relocated to Flemington, NJ, to be close to her family. She spent her time volunteering at the Hunterdon Medical Center gift shop, playing mah-jongg with friends, and practicing her faith at St. Magdalen Church. Gloria was an avid New York Yankees fan that never missed a game.
Above all though, Gloria’s greatest gift was her grandchildren, Arabella and her husband Christian, Rebecca, Matthew, Sophia, Emily, Madison, Courtney, and Abby, who were the sunshines of her life. Gloria passed along to them the values of family and faith, and left an immeasurable impact on their lives. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Nonnie, a bit of her Italian heritage that she carried with her every day.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Matthew Marinelli will take place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Everyone is kindly asked to arrive at the church on Tuesday morning at 9:45 a.m. and to follow the instructions of the Wright & Ford Care Team Family Ambassadors upon arrival.
