Grayson Aloysius Puterbaugh, age 7 weeks, of Budd Lake, NJ, went home to the arms of his loving Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ, surrounded by his family.
Born on April 14, 2017 at Newton Hospital, son of Brianna Joy Burke and Bryan Alexander Puterbaugh, and little brother to Cameron Rylee Puterbaugh, he was loved by all who met him and were touched by his spirit.
Though only seven weeks old, Grayson brought a wonderful new world to his family. This baby boy, with his head of beautiful brown hair, was ready to take on the world he was learning about every minute of each glorious day.
Everything intrigued him; his wide eyes were always on the lookout to see what was going on around him. He would love to just hang out with his Dad; the two loved to just learn from each other about how wonderful this world truly is when you stop and think about the little things, which you then realize are the big things.
Cameron, who loved to play with Grayson in his swing, was so proud when Mom and Dad let him “watch” Grayson and be the proud big brother he was and always will be. They were lucky to have one another and Cameron knows that he has a special guardian angel watching over him now.
Grayson also was a snuggle king, and he had a habit of cuddling with Brianna and always falling asleep with his precious little hand holding onto her “Mom” necklace. Brianna was certainly ‘Mom’ in every sense of the word and Grayson would always be looking for her no matter where she was, even if she just stepped into the other room. There is no doubt that ‘mama’ would have been his first spoken word, but a word we know he knew in his angelic little heart.
No matter whom he came in contact with, Grayson was that child who just made you smile and appreciate life. He had a zest that was inspirational and though it is difficult to understand why God wanted him now, the family takes hope and finds comfort in a scripture that Brianna learned as a child and relies upon to this day for support: from Romans, Chapter 8, Verses 35-39, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” They are confident that Grayson is in the arms of his creator, along with all those family and friends who have come before, and that they will one day be reunited with them all again, in a place where suffering is no more.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Frank and Gertrude Puterbaugh and Robert Johnson.
In addition to his loving parents and brother, he is survived by his grandparents, Michelle and Michael Byrne, Kristina and Frank Puterbaugh, Jr. and Shawn Burke; his great grandparents, Fran and Charlie Miller and Andrew and Darlene Garay; his aunts and uncles, Joseph and Rachel Fashouer, Wade and Sara Bowman, Joshua and Brandi Fashouer, Nicholas Burke, Jason and Erica Boesch; seven cousins; his other mother, “Crissy,” the families dog, a chihuahua, who watched over Grayson and protected him from the moment he came home after being born; and countless people around the world who have been touched by his story.
Grayson’s family would like to thank all the first-responders who tried valiantly to save his life along with the entire medical care team at Morristown for all they did to bring peace to Grayson and hope to his family that his life, though short, truly made a difference in this world.
A celebration of Grayson’s life officiated by Rev. Keith Harris will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Cornerstone Christian Church of Hunterdon County, 226 Locktown-Sergeantsville Road, Stockton, NJ 08559 under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ, 08822.

As Vince Gill sang, “Go rest high on that mountain, Son, your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shoutin,’ love for the Father and the Son. Oh, how we cried the day you left us, we gathered round your grave to grieve. I wish I could see the angels faces, when they hear your sweet voice sing. Go rest high on that mountain, Son, your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shoutin, ‘love for the Father and the Son.” Grayson, rest now on that beautiful mountain, surrounded by heavenly love, and know that the earthly love for you will never end.
