Born in Seaford, NY, February 27, 1939, son of the late Edward Harris Verity and Olga Sophie Olsen Verity, he was raised in Seaford, often jokingly referred to as “Verity-ville” due to the families large and long-term presence in the area, and had lived in West Islip, NY before moving with his daughter and her family to New Jersey in 2001.
A United States Army veteran, Harry was a foreman for many years with Treasure Island Marina, Seaford, NY. He was also a driver for All American Auto Wreckers, Patchogue, NY.
Loving everything to do with the outdoors, Harry was a sportsman at heart. From small and big game hunting to fishing, he was involved at every level. His woodworking was impeccable, and he made many of his own decoys, in addition to carved birds for decoration.
The youngest of six siblings, family was also close to Harry’s heart. The quiet one who liked to keep things simple, you always knew where you stood with Harry as he did not like to make a fuss. He was caring and compassionate, funny and kind, and will be remembered with love for the love he gave.
He was preceded in death by a brother who was killed in combat in 1944 in the English Channel, Edward Charles Verity; his brothers, Earl Harris Verity and Arnold Joseph Verity; a sister, Joan Winifred Verity; and a granddaughter, Carla Lucille Faust.
