Hedwig “Hedy” Post, age 81 years, of Neshanic Station, NJ, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 22, 2021 with her loving daughter, Reyna, by her side and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born in Hazleton, PA on October 26, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Gavitt Hopeck.
Raised in Pennsylvania, Hedy graduated from Hazleton High School in 1957 and then went on to work for Barrett Haentjens in their main office.
Marrying her sweetheart, David Post on April 12, 1969 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Hazleton, PA, would move to a new home they built in Neshanic Station, NJ closer to David’s work.
Hedy and David shared many happy memories until his passing in 1991. Their union gave Hedy her best friend in the world, and the light in David’s eyes, their daughter, Reyna.
A longtime communicant of Mary, Mother of God Church, Hillsborough, NJ, she served as a Eucharist Minister, and was one of those smiling faces that welcomed all people into God’s house.
Having many hobbies, Hedy will be remembered by many in the community as the volunteer librarian at the Branchburg Library where she volunteered for more than thirty-nine years. She loved to read, with mysteries and suspense novels being among her favorites.
Living in Neshanic Station also fulfilled Hedy’s desire to nurture all of God’s children, and there was not an animal or person that walked away from the Post’s door hungry or in need.
Though her time on Earth was shorter than anyone expected, Hedy’s faith made her unafraid to go to the placed promised in John 14. So although saddened, please take heart knowing that we will all see her again, in a place where there is no pain, but only light, hope and peace.
Surviving are her cherished daughter, Reyna Post; several cousins and extended family; and many dear friends.
Hedy will lie in repose on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church, 157 South Triangle Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Sean Broderick, C.S.Sp., will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. and to which all are welcome.
To all those attending, please, wear bright colors! Hedy was positive in all that she did and loved the colors that came with spring; wearing traditional dark, mourning attire is discouraged.
Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Drums, PA, will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is kindly asked to meet at the cemetery office beginning at 10:45 a.m. as we will proceed to the gravesite together.
Realizing that some people may not feel comfortable attending due to the current pandemic restrictions, the funeral will be live-streamed beginning at 10:45 a.m. with the following link allowing you to be a part of the services virtually: please click HERE to watch (kindly ensure that you do not have a pop-up blocker installed).
