Henry John Serafin

Henry John Serafin, age 74 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Newark, NJ, April 26, 1942, son of the late Paul and Karoline Werynska Serafin, he was raised in Newark and Bloomfield, NJ. He resided in Warren, NJ for many years where he raised his family before moving in with his daughter in Greenbook, NJ in 1995, then moving with them to Alexandria Township, NJ in 2004 and finally settling in Raritan Township four years ago.

A United States Army veteran, Henry was a retired machinist with Atlantic Metal Products, Scotch Plains, NJ, where he had worked for many years.

A “Dad” to almost anyone who knew him, Henry was a man who told things as they were. He cared greatly for children; a smiling child was almost always able to make him smile. His own family truly was the joy of his life.

Henry was a thinker and builder and loved working with his hands and often taught children how to build various projects. He also enjoyed painting and drawing.

The weather and nature were of a particular fondness to Henry; he would love to just be outside experiencing all the mysterious and wonders of nature.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Michael Tufaro of Alexandria Township, NJ and Christine and John Pizii of Kennett Square, PA; six grandchildren, Samantha and Michael Tufaro, Ava, Elvis and Sydney Pizii and Sarah Tufaro; two brothers, Eddie and his wife, Grace Serafin and John Serafin; a sister, Wanda Bishop; and many extended family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
