James F. Coffey, age 86 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died peacefully at Hunterdon Care Center on Monday, April 24, 2023.

Born in Manhattan, NY, on October 6, 1936, to the late William and Mary Couthlin Coffey living in the Bronx, NY, before moving to Sergeantsville, NJ, in 1977.

James worked for the New York Life Insurance Company for forty-two years. He will be missed by many co-workers and friends, which he made over the years he worked, before retiring in 2000.

Family and friends will remember him through the times spent together laughing, listening to Irish music, and telling stories. They will enjoy the memories they all have from the beach house that they would rent at the Jersey Shore in Lavallete, NJ. From holidays to simple daily moments, everyone will always treasure the times spent together with James.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Eileen Coffey; two daughters, Miriam & Siobhan Coffey; his brother, John Coffey; two grandchildren, Vera & Sophie; several extended family members; and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father John Primich will take place on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Everyone is kindly asked to arrive at the church on Wednesday morning at 9:45 a.m., and to follow the instructions of the Wright & Ford Care Team Family Ambassadors upon arrival.

Interment will take place privately.

Eileen, Condolences 6 months late, from old buddy of Jim's from the same Bronx apartment 1055 grand Concourse that we shared some seventy years ago. I appreciate the chat we had today re old times. Charlie Flynn

Eileen, I am so sorry for your loss. I am thinking of our last trip to NY/NJ where you and Cousin Jim put us up in one of the most comfortable beds I ever slept in. Darryl and I really enjoyed our time together at your house. You and Jim introduced us to the best philly cheese steak sandwich I ever had. Darryl had never had one before and spoke of it from time to time with friends. It was a real treat when you took us to the restaurant, Suspenders, which was owned by NY firefighters given that Darryl had just retired as fire chief a couple of years prior. If you ever get out to California, I would love if you would stay with me. It would be just me as Darryl passed away 4/8/23 to cancer. He fought until the very end but died peacefully in my arms. So, Jim and Darryl are telling stories up there and I wish I could listen it. I bet I would be laughing until I peed my pants and at my age that probably isn't too hard to imagine.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed the time my husband, Bill, and I spent with your folks! We still live here and I hope you girls are doing well. Will try to make the church. Again so sorry. Marcia Sullivan

Jim and I worked on the Disaster Recovery Team for many years. He worked out of the Clinton office and I worked out of the Home Office in New York. Jim was a great person and always a joke to tell. My deepest condolences to the family May he rest in peace !

Worked with Jim at the Clinton site for many years until his retirement in 2000. It was always a please to meet up with in in the hall coming or going to lunch. We would stand a bit and chat and always end with a hearty laugh on one thing or another. We were (are family NYLIC). The NYLIC family will miss Jim. Rest in Peace.
