Janet H. Nelson, age 85 years, of Oceanport, NJ, died on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at her home, with her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Joseph, by her side.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, December 31, 1929, daughter of the late John and Henrietta Coleman Helthall, she had lived in Oceanport for the past twenty-one years, having lived previously in Little Silver, NJ, Lincroft, NJ and Short Hills, NJ.
She formerly managed Nelson Press, Rumson, NJ for many years and also was a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Another major part of Janet’s life was modeling, and she had attended the Barbizon School of Modeling and subsequently worked for them as a model for many years.
Janet will always be known as a lady with true class and elegance. A quiet and graceful woman, her gentle spirit will be remembered in the form of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Helthall.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph of Oceanport; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and William Lamberson of Red Bank, NJ, Carole Costell of Monmouth Beach, NJ, and Leslie and Bill Havens of Shrewsbury, NJ; four grandchildren, Tara Wroble, Justin Costell, and Rebecca and Samantha Havens; a great grandson, Shawn Wroble, Jr.; a second great grandchild due in 2016; her longtime companion and caregiver, Jean Shakes; and many friends.
Janet will lie in repose on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Funeral services and interment will be private. Directions and further information can be found by visiting www.thompsonmemorial.net.
