Jean Carmella Papa, age 80 years, former longtime resident of Bound Brook, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the New Jersey Eastern Star Home, Bridgewater, NJ under the caring watch of the staff there as well as Compassus Hospice.
She was born in Bound Brook on July 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Cosmo and Emilia Papa and was one of five siblings: Vincent Papa (Betty), Antino/Andimo Papa, Millie Papa Comandini (Angelo), and Theresa Papa Hudak (Anthony).
Jean was a secretary to the principal of St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Bound Brook, after graduating in 1958 from Bound Brook High School. She was employed by the Bound Brook Trust Company and its successors from 1959 to 1976 which included Somerset Hills and County National Bank, First National State Bank of West Jersey, and Somerset Trust Company. From 1980 until 2001, she was employed by Frascella Electrical Company in Bound Brook as an office assistant to the owner.
An active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook, some of Jean’s hobbies included collecting tickets with her friend at the Brook Theatre and spending lots of time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending a great amount of time playing with her precious great-great niece, Skyler.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent and Antino/Andimo Papa, and by her sister, Theresa Hudak.
Surviving are her loving sister Millie, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Matthew Marinelli will be celebrated at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., and to which all are welcome. Everyone is kindly asked to arrive at the church beginning at 9:45 a.m, on Wednesday morning.
Realizing that many people will be unable to attend due to the current pandemic restrictions, the Mass of Christian Burial will be live-streamed with the following link being active starting at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service; click HERE to watch the funeral service live (please ensure that you do not have a pop-up blocker installed).
Following mass, Jean will be entombed at Resurrection Cemetery, 899 East Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway, NJ, 08854.
