Jean Marie Mooney, age 71 years, of Three Bridges, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset, Somerville, NJ, with her husband Mark, and two daughters Danielle and Allison, by her side.
Born in Newark, NJ, Jean grew up in East Orange, NJ. Eventually, she moved with her family to Edison, NJ, and then to Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Jean met her husband Mark when he returned from the Navy as they had mutual friends in Edison. Jean and Mark were married for forty-four years which were filled with ups, downs, but most often, laughs.
Known for living life on her own terms, if she wanted to do it, Jean did it! She had a loving heart, but was never afraid to say what was on her mind. Bringing humor and fun to any situation, Jean will be forever remembered as the “cool” mom, aunt, friend, and co-worker. The joy in her life came from spending leisure time with family and friends, whether it was around a dinner table, or on a porch listening to music. A chef at heart, Jean had a knack in the kitchen for making anything Italian.
With selflessness as her mantra, Jean spent more than half her life caring for others; whether it was her daughters, grandchildren, mother, and husband, she helped everyone.
In addition to her husband, Mark, and daughters Danielle Chavez and her husband, Carlos, and Allison Krise and her husband, Anthony, she is survived by her four grandchildren, Payton, Landon, Adelene, and Ava. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia, brother-in-law, Bernard, two nieces, Lisa and Amanda, and three nephews, Jamie, Scott and Sean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Magaret Lordi, as well as her brother, James.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. James De Fillipps will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ.
