Jeannette “Jaye” Fox Thomson Clayton, age 76 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ.
Born October 1, 1938 in Princeton, NJ, daughter of the late Evan Moon and Jeannette Foster Thomson, she had resided in Clinton Township for the past two years, having formerly lived in Princeton Junction, NJ since 1968.
Jaye was formerly a secretary for the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District for 11 years. Prior to that, she had worked for the English Shop in Princeton, NJ and both the Princeton Savings & Loan and the First National Bank of Princeton.
A very active woman, she would want to be remembered for many things including her membership in the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck; a member of The American Iris Society; and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Victory Chapter #96.
She was actively involved with local emergency services agencies as well, and served as past Captain and President of the Twin “W” First Aid Squad; was a past Chairperson and Delegate of the 9th District NJ State First Aid Council; was a past President of the Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company #1 Auxiliary; served as an Emergency Medical Technician Instructor; was a member of the West Windsor Emergency Management Council; was active in developing EMS education and curriculum in the State of New Jersey; and taught for both the Red Cross and the American Heart Association. For her dedication and selfless service, she was awarded certificates of achievement and merit from all of these organizations.
Jaye, through all of her other activities, loved to design her own greeting cards, tend to her flower garden and enjoyed fly fishing with her loving husband, Gordon Roland Clayton. The two were married in the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck on Valentines day in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Surviving are her Godson and his wife, Daniel R. and Donna Snyder of Annandale, NJ; two cousins and spouse, Joyce A. and Charles Snyder and Betty Simmons; many additional cousins residing out of state; her special friend, Helen Filler of Trenton, NJ; and many extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690 under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Brainerd Cemetery, 22 South Main Street, Cranbury, NJ.
