S Simon Jacob left a message on December 7, 2021:
As most people knew, Joel was an exceptionally special person. In synagogue, he was always interested in discussing new interpretations and views of Torah passages or rabbinical elucidations. I also very much enjoyed discussing with him the latest tech breakthroughs and his thoughts on their global impact. I will miss his agile brain and forthright but always respectful perspectives. May his Nechama have an aliyah in Shamayim. And may all his family be comforted by Heaven.
