John Albert Stout, Jr., age 65, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., tragically passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
John was a beloved husband to his late wife, Brenda; a loving father, and the best pappy to his grandchildren.
John was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 31, 1957, a son to John Albert Stout, Sr., who precedes him in death; and Edith Ruth Stout, who is living and resides in Myrtle Beach.
John met his late wife, Brenda, in 1986. Brenda and John married in July of 1988 in Stafford, Virginia, by a Justice of the Peace, in their sweatpants, surrounded by 23 toy poodles; a memory image that is always a good laugh. Shortly after, they moved to Buckhannon, West Virginia, where they raised their family and made lots of memories together. In 2004, they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they resided till their deaths in 2023. Sadly, Brenda preceded John in death less than three months ago.
John is survived by his two children, Hannah (Rudy) Pabst, of Loris, South Carolina, and Sarah (John) Harshbarger of Granite City, Illinois; six granddaughters, Marley and Delilah Stout of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Rylee and Hazel Pabst of Loris, South Carolina; Allison (William) Lund and Brianna Cuvar of Granite City, Illinois; one grandson, Bryce Cuvar of Granite City, Illinois; and one nephew, D.J. Stout of Buckhannon, West Virginia. John is survived by two siblings, Doug (Brenda) Stout of Buckhannon, West Virginia; and Pamela Wood of Grafton, West Virginia. John is also survived by many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
John loved his family deeply and spoiled his grandchildren to the fullest. He had the biggest heart; a kind, sweet soul; and would do anything for anyone that needed help.
John worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. He began working with Ziegenfuss Drilling, Inc. in 1994 (29 years) until his death. His official job title was a Master Driller, although, he was one the shortest guys of the bunch. John performed all methods and facet of the drilling industry including oil and gas drilling, elevator holes, water wells, and foundation drilling. He had a Class A CDL license, many other construction certifications, and worked mostly up and down the East Coast. He loved his job and the co-workers that became family.
When John was home, he spent most of his time with his family and grandchildren. He also helped his wife with her grooming business and supported her passion of always having dogs. John was a great handyman, often times fixing things around the home and helping others with projects that needed done. “If Pappy can’t fix it, no one can!” John loved to spend hours going up and down the aisles of Harbor Freight and any new tool made him a happy man.
Honoring John’s wishes, he will be cremated. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service for John that will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
