John Frederick Raymond Roach, age 60 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, October 13, 1960, son of the late John Charles Roach and Betty Jane Harrison, he grew up in Ringoes, NJ and was a lifelong area resident.
Growing up, his father was in the antiques business, and John, from a young age, took a keen interest in the profession. It was only natural then for him to follow in his father’s footsteps and form John F. R. Roach Antiques, which he proudly owned and operated for many years. He was fond of telling people that his family had been in the antiquing industry for over one century.
An outdoorsman in every sense of the word, John loved to hunt both large and small game and if there was a body of water, John would try fishing in it. He also enjoyed gardening, and his home yard was always full of fresh flower beds.
Though he sometimes had a gruff exterior, anyone who knew John knew that he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone without looking for anything in return. Though the last few years have been tough for him, it will never change the fact that he was, is, and will forever be a truly good and decent man. He will be forever remembered for raising a large family-and ensuring that his step children were treated as his own-and being the best Pop-Pop around.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Fisher.
Surviving are his wife, Crystal Smith Roach; his children, John Behn, Brian Behn, Jeffrey Roach, Tracy and Joey Esposito, Dawn and Jonathan Gray, Danielle Dempsey and Jeff Wieder, and Jaime and William Kail; his grandchildren, Ian, Kaylee, Connor, Chelsea, Taylor, Jason, Hailey, Alexis, Cody, Shellby, Hunter, Brianna, Mer’Rill, Jaidyn, and Chase; four great grandchildren; his siblings, Jimmy Roach, Michael Roach, George Roberts, David and Tina Roach, and Linda Roach; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; and many dear friends.
John will lie in repose on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ 08822.
