John W. Tinnes, 87, of Glen Gardner, NJ, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ. He was born on October 5, 1914 in Elizabeth, NJ, the son of the late Michael and Susanna Tinnes and lived in Pittstown for many years before moving to Glen Gardner in March of this year. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army. Until his retirement in 1972 he was a bus driver employed by Somerset Bus Company, Somerville, NJ. An avid sportsman, Mr. Tinnes was a member of the Guinea Hollow Rod and Gun Club, Pittstown, NJ. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Bowers of Glen Gardner, NJ; two grandchildren, Michelle Donaruma of Glen Gardner, NJ and Robert J. Compton of Hampton, NJ; three brothers, William Tinnes of Pittstown, NJ, Fred Tinnes of PA, and Elmer Tinnes of VA; one sister, Rose Hayes of Clinton, NJ; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, #38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ on Friday, September 13, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, September 12, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
