Kevin Thomas Gunia, age 56 years, of Belvidere, NJ, died suddenly at home on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Kevin was born to Thomas Gunia, and Pierrette Gunia, in New Brunswick, and grew up in Sayreville. Kevin raised his family in Easton, PA. After residing in Easton, he then moved to Belvidere.
The two jobs that Kevin was able to spread his devotion to were the New Jersey Water Supply Authority (NJWSA), and PSE&G. Kevin spent countless years between the two, but spent the last years as an HVAC Technician, training countless coworkers at PSE&G. He touched every “hon, honey, and sug” he worked with.
Kevin’s passion was the outdoors. Kevin found solace and joy entwined in nature, venturing into forests, mountains, parks, and beaches. His unwavering spirit found sanctuary among the wilderness, even by using it as his bathroom. He lived in his second house, his pickup truck, exploring countless forests in his relentless pursuit of Sasquatch. He explored the country, with the Appalachian Mountains, Lake Placid, and Acadia State Park as his favorites. He enjoyed ice-fishing at Mountain Lake with his two sons, even though they were awful at it.
Kevin’s favorite partners-in-crime were his two furry friends, Dakota and Bess. He would bring them everywhere when he went exploring. He treasured them, even though they were the only two that couldn’t “pull his finger”.
Kevin was a “master” storyteller, and loved to tell stories even though most of them were questionable. He would tell “real” stories about dog-snatching-eagles and crocodile infested waters, to friends, family, and most importantly, gullible children.
A special person in Kevin’s world was his “friend-girl” Dyan. They spent five fantastic years together filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together they epitomized the essence of companionship, and their bond was unbreakable. The memories they shared will be forever cherished. There was not a better match on Earth then these two. Kevin and Dyan were inseparable and did everything together. His love spread to every aspect of her life, including her son Michael.
Another major part of Kevin’s life was his roomate Brian Cahill and his pizza crew. Every friday night they would go out to eat at any pizza parlor, spreading their joy and cheer to anyone that was around them.
Kevin’s legacy, essence, and spirit lives on in his family. His world was centered on his three children, Ryan Gunia, Matthew Gunia, and Samantha Dammann. He was one of four siblings including, Thomas Gunia and his wife Robin, Sherry Frederick, and Christopher Gunia and his wife Kiki. He loved his nephews and nieces, Greg Gunia, Emily Gunia, Alexis Frederick, Brett Gunia, and Abby Gunia. He admired and cherished his mother, Pierrette Gunia, and created a family with his former wife, Cindy Gunia. He cherished every single one of his friends, colleagues, coworkers, and neighbors whose lives he touched with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gunia.
