Kishore Tarachand Butani, age 78 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born on May 24, 1944, in Karachi, India, son of the late Tarachand Metharam Butani and Haribai Tarachand Butani, he came to the United Sates in 2001, settling first in Piscataway, NJ and moving to Raritan Township several years ago.
Growing up in Mumbai, India, Kishore learned the values of humility and hard work from an early age. He also learned the value of family relationships, and that ideal is what drove most of his actions during his life.
Earning his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, he served as a Certified Lead Quality Global Auditor for multiple reputed companies including Baxter, Johnson & Johnson, TUV, Bharat Aluminum, Scientech laboratories in a successful and illustrious career. Throughout his life, he led by example and showed everyone why getting a good education and working hard was important on so many levels.
Marrying Kamal Menghraj Lulla on March 13, 1977, the couple shared an amazing forty-six years of love, laughs and life dedicated to family relationships. Their union was blessed with two children, Poonam and Ashis, who credit their success to the invaluable lessons of compassion and generosity instilled in them by their father. Outside of his immediate family, Kishore was seen as the glue of the family and endeared by everyone since he brought everyone together and created harmony across different generations within the family tree. He was a father figure to many of his siblings kin who lost their parents at an earlier age. Kishore was considered as a noble, simple, kind, down-to-earth human who built, maintained and grew relationships.
A deeply spiritual person, Kishore devoted himself to studying the Bhagavad Gita and spent much time researching the various lessons it taught him. The Bhagavad Gita and its teachings encourages one to live life with purity, strength, discipline, honesty, kindness and integrity. Though his time on Earth ended far too soon, his legacy of living life in all the ways just mentioned will inspire all those who knew him to live fruitful lives.
It is written in the Bhagavad Gita, “I am immortality and I am death; I am what is and what is not.” The spirit is beyond destruction. No one can bring an end to spirit which is everlasting.” Kishore’s spirit will truly live on in the good actions of all who were touched by his gentle heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Padma, Vasanti, and Lata; as well as his brothers, Santdas and Atamprakash.
Surviving are his wife, Rachna Butani; his children and their spouses, Poonam and Anil Merani and Ashis and Ananta Butani; his grandchildren, Rohan Merani, Esha Merani, and Aryan Butani; several extended family members including his older sister, Sabita Jagasia and younger brother, Ramesh Butani; and many dear friends.
