Laura Lee Roberts, age 66 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 1, 2021, with her cherished husband, Tom Stolz by her side, and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born on September 28, 1954 in Jamaica, Queens, NY, daughter of the late Michael Anderson and Ruth Carolyn Covington Roberts, Laura had resided in Mahwah, NJ for many years prior to moving to Raritan Township last year.
Authentic and empathetic, Laura was a gentle spirit who loved with all of her being, and found perfection in the simplicity of God’s majesty.
Earning her master’s degree from NJIT in management science, for over twenty-five years Laura was an Information Technology Manager with UPS where she was highly regarded by her colleagues as an ‘IT Wiz’ who was always there to support and be a friend.
While information technology was her career path, Laura’s life path was all about appreciating the gifts given by a good and loving God, and using those gifts to help others as they traveled down their life path. She was an amazing listener whose soft, feminine ways balanced amazingly with her ‘Annie Oakley’ persona.
This side of Laura had a love of riding horses and a spirit of equestrianism that was embedded in her soul. She was a talented shooter and could knock a pebble off a glass bottle at one hundred yards. Her adventurous sprit also led her to drive Porsche race cars, and she was a longtime member of the Porsche Club of America.
It was this love of Porsche’s that led Laura and her future husband, Tom, to meet for coffee one day after a mutual friend suggested that Tom call Laura as he felt they would get along well. Get along was putting it mildly, as the two had an instant connection based on respect, faith, and of course, racing Porsche’s!
Laura and Tom would find comfort and hope in each other’s eyes and were happily wed on September 19, 2020. Having fought cancer several years before, sadly Laura’s battle was not yet over as it reoccurred with a fierceness that tested her faith. In true Laura fashion though, she never let anyone know she was in pain and was always more concerned with how others were doing. Even during her last weeks, she was trying to ensure that those in her circle would be ok when it was time for her to be called home. In the end, the cancer was unable to destroy the beauty that radiated from Laura and the beauty that lights the path of all those who knew her and carry her light forward in the world.
In addition to her love of Tom and of course horses and racing Porsche’s, Laura was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and had an affinity for animals.
To honor Laura, is to slow down and feel JOY in every moment of life, both the good, and even during some of the tougher moments on life’s path. Laura lived her life with the word ‘hope’ on her lips and in all her actions, so to honor her is to live in and by the words of Corinthians, ‘…faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these, is love.”
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Anderson Roberts, Jr.
Surviving, in addition to her husband Thomas, are her sister, Carolyn Schuft; three step-sons, Nicholas Stolz, Douglas Stolz and his wife, Dr. Aliea Herbert, and Shane Stolz; her brothers and sister-in-law, Susan Ashley, John and Jan Stolz, Janet and Bob Westcott, and Robert and Kimberly Stolz; her cherished dog who was by her side every moment, Sherry; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
Words of reflection will follow the gathering beginning at 12:30 p.m. and to which all are welcome.
Realizing that some people may be unable to attend the services in person, the last fifteen minutes of the visitation at the funeral home and the life celebration service will be live-streamed beginning on Monday at 12:15 p.m.; the following link will allow you to be a part of the services virtually: please click HERE to watch (kindly ensure that you do not have a pop-up blocker installed).
