I am so sorry for your loss. Larry and I were business associates since being introduced in 2012. He was a quality person and I will miss him.
Karl Holzthum left a message on May 7, 2020:
It saddens me to have jsut heard of the loss today from one of the Sun Communications Region alums. I remember Larry well! As I have always stated he was a hard working stand up individual. Working his way up the ranks, always there to help, support and celebrate and always positive. A stand up class act as well as a great 2nd baseman, on our company softball team. My prayers are with his family. Rest peacefully Larry.

Nancy, TJ, Stephen, Caleb, and Jason. Your father was a treasure, one of the many "Mr. Allen's" up at camp, he was always the first to lend a hand and the last to take credit for the help. One fond memory was from Mark's wedding, as he shared below. All of us groomsmen stayed at your house, Larry and Nancy whipped up the best breakfast and the conversations we had that morning, just catching up on life, I will hold dear. Thank you for that hospitality. Speaking for all the Mewha's and Pope's, our hearts break with yours. But we can also rejoice knowing that Larry is home, at the table with our savior, his savior, and we will worship with him in eternity. All the love, Ryan, Alyssa, & Rory.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Larry was my manager for about a year when we were both at Sun Microsystems. He was a terrific guy and I really enjoyed getting to know him. It has been a very long time since we worked together but I never forgot how much his family and faith sustained him. I know he is with the Lord. God Bless you and your family.

Aunt Nancy, TJ, Stephen, Caleb, Jason and families, Our hearts ache with you all through this time. We thank God that the pain we feel now is temporary and that His Glory and Peace will extend long after. It’s hard to remember a time when our families weren’t closely intertwined. From living around the corner from each other in multiple towns throughout childhood, attending the same churches over the span of a few decades, VBS over the years, retreats at Iroquoina, countless Allen family gatherings hosted, Ocean City vacations, Christmas Parties and New Year’s get-togethers and finally (one of my personal favorites) family ski trips. He was Always extremely present, loved his family wholeheartedly, and loved everyone else with open doors. Although they are a mix of pain and joy right now, these memories and many more are very present on our minds; and we will continue to remember and cherish all these things as time goes on. So happy and blessed to have been able to call him UNCLE, and we are especially glad to have experienced first hand his passion for wine and people while he was working at the winery. Love you always, Dave and Natalya

My deepest condolences to the entire Allen Family on the tragic loss of Larry. I worked closely with Larry for the past few years at PKA and always enjoyed his personal touch he brought to everything we worked on. He brought professionalism, expertise and calm (and so much more) with him every day and I learned a lot working beside him. He was a wonderful person and we will miss him dearly.

Larry was just one the those guys who you knew had your back and could always count on. He worked, played, and loved robustly. He was fun to be around as he was an encourager and loved life to the fullest. We have fond memories of Larry and Nancy when the boys were infants and toddlers enjoying weekends at my parents Vt. house. Nice times at Ocean City enjoying the love of the Allen Family as if we were one of them. Then there were the Christmas tree outings at Otts and other places. Softball at MRBC and all other college and career activities will always be remembered as well. What sticks out in my mind was his love he had for Nancy and the boys. I always thought it was cool how he would regularly have date night with Nancy. As I'm writing this, I am thinking to myself, I can't believe he's gone. Our whole family is grieving with you all and feeling this great loss. Larry has left quite a legacy for TJ, Stephen, Jason, and Caleb as he modeled to them what a good husband and father looks like. He was extremely proud of you guys as he watched you grow into young men. I have many other memories I could share, but It's the memories that you have that will help you in these sad times. We love you and know that God will give you the ability to get through. Joanne and I are looking forward to the time we can see you in person to give you a hug. Our hearts have been with you through the years and especially now.

I had the honor of working with Larry at PKA Tech. Larry was a true gentleman and personally a great help to me with his constant wise counsel and consistent good humor. We particularly enjoyed comparing stories of our adventures in our Mustang convertibles. I vividly recall his true joy in this! I sincerely wish all his family and friends the very best in this difficult time.

Uncle Larry has been a constant in my life as long as I could remember. It was such an awesome experience to grow up living only a mile away from my cousins and getting to have sleep overs and get together's since we were little. Uncle Larry in a way was almost like a second Dad to us. So many memories of Ocean City trips together, he would always build the best sand castles and make that awesome sand snake. I remember him showing us how to ride quads in the woods and the best way to stack wood to make a fire. Youth group trips and Iroquoina retreats he was always there and made sure we were safe and that we were having a good time. Uncle Larry and Aunt Nancy were also so gracious to let the groomsmen stay at their house before our wedding and made us all breakfast and went out of their way to help with our big day. He was always willing to help in small ways and in big ways. It never seemed like a burden to him. His smile and laugh was something I will always remember and he was kind and compassionate to everyone around him. His love for his family was unquestioned and his faith in God was strong. We are very saddened by his loss but we rejoice that he is in Heaven and that we will someday see him again. Much love, Mark and Katelyn

Its still so hard to believe that we are writing this for Uncle Larry. What a kind heart he had that he shared with everyone who met him. I have so many memories of being in Ocean CIty on vacations, Allen Thanksgivings at his house, reunions playing horse shoes, father son retreats and some super intense card games! The one thing that always stood out in all of them was he was always full of smiles and laughter. We are going to miss him so much but what an amazing gift it is to know that we will see him again one day! We will continue to pray for Aunt Nancy, TJ, Stephen, Caleb & Jason as we know how much he will be missed!

Scott & Debbie Allen left a message on March 26, 2020:
Larry's passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and our lives that we know only God can fill. He was a wonderful brother who always reached out to us and was ready to do anything to help us in our times of need. He was Scott's roommate during teen years, best man at our wedding, and close companion through many years. Our paths seemed to follow one another: we lived near each other in North Plainfield and then again in the Bridgewater area allowing us to enjoy many happy times together and to raise our boys together. We spent many years in the same churches and served the Lord together: VBS, Youth Groups, Bible Studies, Father and Son retreats and elder board meetings. Larry is a dear brother in Christ who lived out his faith in very evident ways. We know our paths will continue to follow each other because he has gone ahead of us to the place where we all long to be - with our Savior Jesus Christ. So long for now, Larry, we will see you again soon. We send our deepest love to Nancy and their children whom we love so dearly. We pray that God will continue to hold you in His loving arms during this difficult time. Love, Scott and Debbie

Where do we begin??? What a great brother and brother in law!! Larry will be so missed by our family. Still having a hard time with accepting such a quick passing but we know that he was ushered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday. He always wanted to be around the older boys when we were growing up hanging out with our Uhler cousins. Graduated from New Providence High School and onto many accomplishments. He always had a positive attitude! He was always ready to help where it was needed working on family's houses or projects. Family dinners, Fathers Day's at his house... Golfing buddies many times with Dad and the brothers. Many trips and vacations to Ocean City NJ. He was a sandcastle engineer! We had so many happy times on the beach together. I always liked listening to his vacation stories when he took his family places. The details were as if you were there with him. Skiing with him many times in the mountains of Vermont, New York, and PA. And then the boat saga, an old beat up boat that he towed (what an experience that was!!) to his house for his kids to play on. I know they had great memories of that. It was just another way of Larry providing for his kids. So much more that could be said !!! Nancy our hearts are with you always! May Gods Peace and Comfort surround you all the time. We love you so much! To all our Nephews and their wives, we love you all! Your Dad was amazing (and you know that). He and Mom taught you well. May God's Peace and Comfort carry you though these tough days knowing that Dad is at peace and Home in Glory with his Lord and Savior.

Larry and I worked together at Sun Microsystems. He had a remarkable ability to understand problems in the larger sense; not just looking for the specific issue but seeing how multiple systems and factors worked (or not!) together. His engineering influence on things we assume "just work" -- fast internet, cell service, voice telephone services -- was subtle and important. He was a superb co-worker -- funny, motivated, eager to take on the harder tasks.

Dear Nancy and Family: If we could be next to you, the PKA Family and a number of our partner teams that Larry worked with day in and out would be extending hugs and words of comfort. That is not to be at the moment and I hope that the expressions of love and positive feelings from our team can be conveyed thru this short note and will stay with you for a very long time and then in person at the right time. Larry was an extremely trusted and loved person on our team. Larry was able to get his point across with great dignity and class while being forthright and ethical. He always had the right words while speaking with customers and with his calm approach was able to de-escalate heightened situations as well as keep to what needed to be focused on. We know he loved you all very much and he spoke about his sons, their accomplishments as well as Nancy and his extended family frequently. As you are dealing with this untimely loss, it is our fervent hope and wish that you all stay healthy and be comforted by many wonderful memories and the positivity that Larry emulated and shared with everyone. Please let us know how we can help and when a memorial service is planned. Larry will be missed by all that knew him. With our deepest sympathies and love, Felise and the extended PKA Family.
