Louise Irene Foppiani, age 90 years, of Clinton, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family.
Born on June 7, 1933, in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nicolo and Marie Caropreso Purpura.
Graduating from Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn, NY, she started her career in banking in Brooklyn and would then be shortly introduced to the love of her life, Thomas R. Foppiani, at a wedding they both attended.
Uniting in holy matrimony on September 18, 1954, at The Shrine Church of St. Bernadette on 13th Avenue in Brooklyn, the newlyweds went to Atlantic City, NJ, for their honeymoon. In later years, Louise would enjoy visiting Atlantic City with Tom, her children, grandchildren and good friends. Their union brought them three children who were the light of Louise’s eyes and of whom she was so proud. Thomas G., Peter G., and Faith would honor their parents by being compassionate and loving individuals who would use the advice their parents gave them to make this world a better place.
Louise and Tom moved from Brooklyn to the Bronx in their early years, where their fist son would join them. They would eventually make their way to New Jersey where Peter would then be born and Tom found work with General Motors. Buying a home on San Antonio Avenue in Nutley, NJ, would see Faith added to the family, and was a place where many happy memories were made. It was truly a close-knit neighborhood, and the best friendships of both Louise and Tom’s life were made with their neighbors who became like family.
Louise was best known for being the life of the party, bowling, dancing, cooking, and, in her later years, being a local Crossing Guard looking after each of the school children as if they were her own grandchildren. She was also proud to be a part of the Union Township Seniors Club serving as President and Activities Director where she made many friends and ensured the group always had fun!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Foppiani, and many extended and beloved family members and friends who where there to greet her when she joined them in Heaven.
Surviving are her children, Thomas G. and his wife, Lisa Foppiani, Peter G. Foppiani, and Faith and her husband, Carlo Truppi; her grandchildren, Giuliana Truppi, Silvana Truppi, and Giancarlo Truppi; her sister-in-law, Marian Lang; her nephews, Michael Malm, Stephen Malm, and Kenneth Malm; her cousin, Donald De Lorenzo; several extended family members; and many dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ, under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
