Margaret Elizabeth Ditzig Unger, age 70 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born on November 27, 1944 in Linz, Austria, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Lochli Ditzig, she had resided in Delaware Township for the past four years, having formerly lived for over thirty years in Raritan Township, NJ.

She came to the United States in 1950 where the family settled in Flushing, NY before moving to the ‘country” in 1958 and opening and operating the Ditzig Chicken Farm in Raritan Township. Margaret went on to graduate from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in 1962 and was a Secretary for many years at Kuhl Corp., Raritan Township, NJ.

Margaret was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was strong-willed but would do anything for anyone. She faithfully and lovingly took care of her parents until their deaths, Elizabeth in 2009 and Joseph in 2014. She was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Delaware Township, NJ.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Josef Unger, with whom she joined hands in marriage on April 22, 1967. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Marianne Unger; a grandson, Daniel Unger; a brother and sister-in-law, Hermann J. and Phoenix Ditzig; three nieces, Kathleen, Marlene and Margaret Ditzig; and many friends.

Funeral services under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Noon in the funeral home. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ. The family will host a reception following the graveside committal for all those who wish to attend.

Dear Joe, Through Kim I was saddened to learn of the sudden loss of Margaret. As you know, Maggie (as I often called her) and I go a long way back. On my daily walk to school I noticed that the Ditzig family with a daughter my age moved to Flemington. I said some words of welcome and asked her if she wanted to walk with me to school. This was the start of our walk through life as friends and confidants. Maggie played an important role in my life. She had an open ear and mind, and though the years we shared many ups and downs with one another. She never failed to be honest and loyal in her attempts to point me in the right direction. Her tenacity knew no boundaries. I was impressed by her intelligence, her interest in others as well as her generosity. She was someone, who cared with a passion. My move to Holland did not diminsh our friendship though we saw each other less frequently. I was fortunate to have spent some quality time with her during my last visit. Stories too numerous to tell but well imbedded in my heart. Though distance separates, both Wil and I share your loss. As a former Flemington Junction Road neighbor of the Ditzig family, I was very sorry to learn of Margaret's passing. I offer my sympathy and sincerest condolences to Herman, Joe, Chris, and other extended family members.

So many memories...A life too short..May you rest in Peace. You are with your mom and dad and others who left this earth before you.You did so much for so many you will be rewarded in heaven.

Margaret was my cousin, my friend, and my spiritual sister. I cared for her deeply. We go back 60 years, and I always enjoyed being with her. She was one of a kind ... good wife, friend, daughter, sister, mother, auntie. So sorry she won't be in our lives, but we believed deeply in the promises of the Bible that we will see our loved ones again.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I Remember Margaret as larger then life...would never take no for an answer...would cook for everyone and showed everyone So much love and her laugh was infectious...and a defender to the end. She always made me feel important even though I was young, sitting at her table I always remember her asking me personal things and really showing me that she cared and I am sad she us gone from us.

Margaret was truly a good friend. She made me feel like one of the family. She always had a kind word. She will be truly missed.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. May she rest in peace, she was very beautiful.

Margaret was always so sweet and her gentle and strong spirit will be remembered by me always with fondness... The genuine love and caring she showed for her parent's is an inspiration to me and to so many. My personal thoughts are with you all. Respectfully, D.J.
