Margaret Elizabeth Ditzig Unger, age 70 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born on November 27, 1944 in Linz, Austria, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Lochli Ditzig, she had resided in Delaware Township for the past four years, having formerly lived for over thirty years in Raritan Township, NJ.
She came to the United States in 1950 where the family settled in Flushing, NY before moving to the ‘country” in 1958 and opening and operating the Ditzig Chicken Farm in Raritan Township. Margaret went on to graduate from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in 1962 and was a Secretary for many years at Kuhl Corp., Raritan Township, NJ.
Margaret was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was strong-willed but would do anything for anyone. She faithfully and lovingly took care of her parents until their deaths, Elizabeth in 2009 and Joseph in 2014. She was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Delaware Township, NJ.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Josef Unger, with whom she joined hands in marriage on April 22, 1967. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Marianne Unger; a grandson, Daniel Unger; a brother and sister-in-law, Hermann J. and Phoenix Ditzig; three nieces, Kathleen, Marlene and Margaret Ditzig; and many friends.
Funeral services under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Noon in the funeral home. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ. The family will host a reception following the graveside committal for all those who wish to attend.
