Maria C. Enriquez, age 71 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in River’s Edge Rehabilitation Center, Raritan Boro, NJ.
Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, August 27, 1944, daughter of the late Victor and Emma Pinovaras Enriquez, she had resided in Raritan Township since earlier this year, having formerly lived in Jacksonville, FL, Whitehall, PA and Union, NJ.
She was retired from AT & T where she worked in quality control and manufacturing. She had formerly been a grammar school teacher for many years in Cuba.
In November of 2013, Maria was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told that there were very minimal chances of survival for more than a few months. Her faith, spirit and resilience led her to battle and survive the disease for more than three years.
Very active, she loved to travel and was highly involved in the communities in which she lived. She leaves behind many close friends in Florida, especially at the YMCA where she was a member of the, “Silver Sneakers Club.”
She was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Salome and a brother, Enrique Enriquez.
Surviving are her daughter and her longtime partner, Jennie Estopinales and Shirley Seigler of Raritan Township, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Tara Michaels of Roanoke, VA; a granddaughter, Madison Michaels; a sister, Magaly, in Cuba; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Antony Arockiadoss on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in St Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
There are no calling hours and interment will be private.
