Marvin Ernesto Lainez Alfaro, age 22 years, of Flemington, NJ, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, with his loving family by his side after a four year battle against leukemia.
Born in Sensuntepeque, El Salvador on August 15, 1999, he was the son of Cristina Alfaro and Juan Lainez.
Emigrating to the United States in 2013, Marvin would graduate from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in 2017 and then work for many years as a painter with Scott C. Rule Painting, Frenchtown, NJ. A dedicated worker, Marvin was known for his brute strength and ‘can do’ attitude.
A video game fanatic, Marvin loved amusement park rides and always drove a manual transmission Subaru, a trademark he was known for as he would not drive anything else.
Seven months ago, Marvin’s world changed drastically for the better as he and his longtime partner, Catheryn Flores, welcomed their son, Enzo Damian Lainez Flores, into the world. Naps with Enzo soon became Marvin’s favorite pastime, and everyone loved watching Marvin talk to Enzo as if he were an adult discussing world affairs. Marvin also made sure that Enzo was always ‘styling’ with clothes that matched his ‘Da Da’s’.
Though a diagnosis of leukemia four years ago rocked the foundation of Marvin’s life, he never, ever let that stop him from living each day to the fullest. He appreciated every moment for the beauty that it was, and never complained once during all of his grueling medical treatments. It was this attitude, along with his smile, that led him to become a true inspiration to everyone that he met during the course of his illness. Marvin’s family would like to extend a special thank you too all the physicians, nurses, and staff members that were involved in helping Marvin, and them, over the years. Your love will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents Cristina and Juan, his longtime partner, Catheryn, and son, Enzo, Marvin is survived by his older sister and her fiancé, Lisseth Lainez and Hector Lopez; his two younger brothers, Jason Misiel Lainez and Anthony Gabriel Lainez; and numerous extended family and friends.
One of the things Marvin never got to accomplish was to go skydiving, but his family takes solace in knowing his spirit is free and soaring through the clouds. Please, follow your own dreams and by doing so, you will honor Marvin as you live each moment to its fullest!
Marvin will lie in repose on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Matthew Marinelli will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, and to which all are welcome.
