Mary Ann Primiani, age 85 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, went home to the Lord on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Queens, NY, January 6, 1937, daughter of the late Angelo and Ann Blasetti Primiani, Mary was raised in Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ, and had resided in the home she and her husband built more than fifty years ago.
A matriarch in every sense of the word, Mary was grounded by the holy spirit and devoted to her family.
Meeting her Italian-born husband Nicola in 1959, the pair fell in love instantly and were married on January 30, 1960 at St. Peter’s Cathedral, New Brunswick, NJ. Following their wedding, they would build a ranch home next to her parents, but soon Nicola, having grown up on a farm in Italy, longed to have his young family experience the joys he did as a child. The couple would begin a search and would soon find an almost fifteen acre lot in what was then a very rural Raritan Township, NJ. It was there where they would build there dream home.
The idyllic property soon would be filled not just with the sounds of the couples two young sons, Frank and Anthony, but with the sounds of cows, sheep, goats, pigs and many other farm animals. Nicola, who had a full time job with 3M, rose early and worked late on the farm, but it was Mary who managed the daily operations of what would become known as ‘Primiani Farm.’ Her dedication and attention to detail made the farm a true place of magic and of love.
Praying the Rosary and the Divine Mercy daily were Mary’s way of ensuring she stayed humble and did the Lord’s work. Her strong faith allowed her to be an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Mary was known for being many things, chief among them being an amazing cook. Her homemade dry sausage, meatballs, and pork rib were legendary. She and her husband ensured that old Italian traditions were upheld and passed on to future generations. Much of this revolved around time in the kitchen; meal time was not just meal time to Mary, it was family time. Many happy memories were created over the years with holidays and family events all taking center stage. Family was truly where it began and revolved around for Mary, and friends were considered family.
A longtime communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, Mary would want to be remembered as a loving soul who followed the teachings of Micah 6:8 which states: Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfully, and to walk humbly with your God. Mary, you have fought the good fight and finished the race. Rest in the sweetest of peace and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Louis.
Surviving are her cherished husband, Nicola; her sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Donna Primiani and Anthony and Barbara Primiani; her grandchildren, Brionna and her husband, Luke Schostkewitz, Kali Primiani, Noah and his wife, Catherine Primiani; Zachary Primiani, and Peter Primiani; a brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Judy Primiani; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carlo and Filomena Varriano; several extended family members; and many dear friends. Mary was also very excited about her first great grandchild due July 1st to Noah and Catherine and surely her light will emanate from this newest addition to the family.
Mary will lie in repose on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
