Mary Elizabeth Bracken Raleigh, age 81 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
Born on January 23, 1941 in Newark, NJ, Mary was the daughter of late Thora Poulsen and John Bracken. Mary graduated from Presbyterian Nursing School in Newark, NJ and has been a registered Nurse since 1963. She worked at Presbyterian Hospital early in her nursing career as well as many summers at Camp NEJEDA through the mid 1980’s. Mary and Donald Raleigh were wed on December 6, 1969, and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Mary was a lifelong avid bowler having participated in weekly leagues until recently. Mary’s real passion was Mystic Woods Dalmatians as the owner, breeder, trainer and handler for over 30 years. Mystic Woods Dalmatians produced several AKC Champions and has been a long time member of the Dalmatian Club of America and Delaware Valley Dalmatian Club.
In addition to her mother in 1985 and her father in 1986, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred DeFabrizio and brother, Robert Poulsen. Mary is survived by her husband, Donald Raleigh and children and their spouses, Donna Raleigh, Elizabeth and Vance Fox, Douglas and Wendy Raleigh, Ann Marie and Frank Von Esse, and 6 grandchildren, Christian, Sofia, Abigail, Theresa, Caitlyn and Alexandra.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
