Michael Joseph O’Brien III, age 82 years, passed into Heaven on Tuesday February 28, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Joyce; their sons and daughters-in-law, Juston and Dionne, Eric and Pam, Craig and Jean, and Francis and Donna; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen and John Ingrassia and Anne and Joe Gazokas.
Born and raised in New York City, Mike graduated from Xavier High School and earned a degree in Physics from St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia. One of the early computer programmers, he was a systems engineer for the Sperry Corporation, before retiring as a Division Manager.
Mike and Joyce lived and raised their family in East Setauket, New York, until coming to the Villages in Florida in 2008.
An avid golfer, Mike got a hole in one three times. For several years he served on the board of governors at St. George’s Golf Club. A flying enthusiast, he held a private pilot’s license. Reading, driving, cards, and family vacations were all hobbies he enjoyed.
He loved a good joke and the occasional drink to go with it. He lived well, laughed often, loved his wife and raised four sons and will be remembered with love and affection by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. John Primich will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment was private in Florida.
