Mollie Dunnam Lamkin Heide of Ringoes, NJ passed away on January 24th at the age of 75 with her family by her side.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 20, 1941 Mollie was the oldest daughter of Charles Roberts Lamkin and Mildred Dunnam Lamkin, both of Alexandria, Louisiana.
She attended Louisiana State University (LSU), Brenau University and Somerset Christian College. Mollie worked for Delta Airlines for many years and during that time she traveled the world – always bringing home exciting tales of her adventures. Mollie’s vivacious and independent spirit was indicative of the many places she visited and lived.
Mollie was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Peter van Berlo Heide of New York City where he and Mollie lived for many years before moving to the country in Ringoes, New Jersey. With acres of property Mollie and Peter raised champion flat coated retrievers and trained them as therapy dogs. They would visit hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, bringing joy and comfort to patients young and old.
Mollie was very involved with the Junior League of Greater Princeton for decades, serving as President, as well as many other positions. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was a faithful parishioner and volunteer at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Three Bridges, New Jersey.
Mollie is survived by her two children, Dean Hutchinson Heide of Ringoes, NJ and Diana Heide Fredericks of Locust Valley, NY and was the very proud grandmother of six grandchildren – Isabelle, Jack, Andy, Piper, Quinny and Harper. Mollie also leaves behind two brothers, Charlie Lamkin Jr, of Alexandria, Louisiana and Marc Lamkin of Mills River, NC and a sister, Letty Lamkin Allen of Houston, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family members. She will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas J. Serafin on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
Interment next to her cherished husband, Peter, will be private during a sunset ceremony in the family plot at Highland Cemetery, Hopewell, NJ.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
