Norman Victor Taggert, Jr., age 67 years, of Greenwich Township, NJ, died suddenly but peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at his home.
Born December 29, 1955 in Plainfield, NJ, son of the late Norman Victor Taggert, Sr. and Jelsie Louise Lo Collo Taggert, Norman was raised in North Plainfield, NJ, and had lived in Long Beach, CA, Euless, TX, and Kingwood Township, NJ, prior to moving to Greenwhich Township several years ago.
Graduating North Plainfield High School in 1975, he would join the United States Air Force and serve until he was honorably discharged.
With a passion for hard work and a natural ability for woodworking, Norm would be fortunate enough to be accepted into the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local #254. It was at work where Norm’s passions shone through brightly and besides being a true master of his craft, he became a mentor to many up and coming young union members.
With a sense of humor that made anyone and everyone laugh no matter the circumstances, Norm was dedicated to weightlifting and physical fitness and spent several hours a day lifting weights. He joked that though he was short in stature, his muscles would make him big! He also loved animals, and any dogs that were fortunate enough to be loved by Norm, lived like royalty.
Above all else, Norm was a devoted brother, uncle, and family man. With the death of his parents at a young age, Norm took custody of his two younger brothers when he was only 20, fulfilling a promise to his father made on his death bed. He and his older sister Karen would raise Mark and Brian, and keeping the family together remained a priority to Norm to the present day.
Though his passing from this world is too soon for the multitude of hearts who loved him, those hearts are comforted by the many memories, especially the funny memories, Norm created and leaves for all to cherish until we are reunited with one another in a place where there is no suffering or pain, but only light, peace, and hope.
In addition to his mother in 1968, and father in 1979, Norm was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Wayne Taggert in 2018, and a niece, Kim Hart in 2017.
Surviving are his siter and her longtime partner, Karen Taggert and Jim Rick; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Sharon Taggert; his sister-in-law, Maura Taggert; his nieces and nephews, Cole and Jaime Taggert, Cory Taggert, Calli Taggert, Shane Taggert, Jelsie Taggert, Shea Taggert, Kelsey Hart, Kate Hart, Jason Hart, and Alec Hager; many cousins and extended family; and many dear friends.
