Pasquale S. “Pat” Fichera, age 93 years, of Marco Island, FL and Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ
Born in Manhattan, NY, October 1, 1922, son of the late Salvatore and Carmela Russo Fichera, he had formerly resided in Staten Island, NY having grown up and then living in Brooklyn, NY for many years prior.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, Pasquale was the retired Owner & President of F & G Heating Co., Inc., Brooklyn, NY which he opened in 1947.
A communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Annandale, NJ, he can best be described as a self-made renaissance man. Extremely intelligent and creative, he was a very humble and compassionate person who lived to help others. He became a mentor to many people throughout his life and loved to teach others about his various enterprises.
Pasquale kept his own workshop where he was always busy creating and working on various projects. He was a voracious reader and also enjoyed fishing, boating and wine-making. His family will forever be better people because of his truly caring and optimistic spirit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Fichera and a sister, Vera Sirota.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Nancy A. Scoglio Fichera with whom he joined hands in marriage on October 4, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY; four children and their spouses, Salvatore and Valerie Fichera of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Marie and John Siller of Flemington, NJ, Patti and Kenny Smith of Stewartsville, NJ and Vincent and Lorraine Fichera of Allendale, NJ; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Randall Vashon on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
