Richard Henry Wahlers

Richard Henry Wahlers, age 88 years, of Toms River Township, NJ, died peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 22, 1934, in Newark, NJ, went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus in Heaven. Richard was raised in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, by his dad, Frederick, and brothers, Harry and Freddie. There he learned to swim, boat, fish off the docks, and had a wonderful childhood that he so often spoke about.

Richard was predeceased by his mother, Ella; his father, Frederick; brothers, Harry and Freddie; his wife, Evelyn; sons, Arthur, William, David, and Richard Jr.; his daughter, Nancy; grandson, Steven; and his beloved cats, Charlie and Stinky.

Surviving are his daughters, Mary, Linda, Lisa, and Lori along with his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. What gave dad the most pleasure was his beautiful friends, Jan and Avril.

Richard was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was treasured by his family.

Cremation services were private under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.

Richie's personality lit up a room! He could tell stories that left everyone weeping with laughter. Richie had the best heart ever and I have countless happy memories of sitting in "Wahlers Grove" playing the lottery and sharing so many memories. Richie loved his family and was so proud of all of his children. Rest in peace my sweet friend. You will be missed.

My dad was a beautiful man. He married my mom with many children from a previous marriage and adopted all and raised them as his own. That speaks volumes about a 30 year old bachelor, a man of commitment and love in his heart. I miss my dad. He was my best friend

That picture says it all! I was so fortunate to have Richie as my neighbor for the past four years. He was a funny, kind, thoughtful man.. I loved his one liners.. And boy did he love my dogs, he was such an animal lover.. He will be soo missed. ?
