Rosemarie (Scialli) Grimes, age 83 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died on Friday, October 9, 2015 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, June 11, 1932, daughter of the late Antonio and Catherine Messano Scialli, she had resided in Kingwood Township since 1999, having formerly lived in Piscataway, NJ.
She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for many years at Holy Family School, Plainfield, NJ. She also served as Assistant Principal at St. Mary’s School, also in Plainfield.
A communicant of Our Lady of Victories Parish, Baptistown, NJ, Rosemarie will be remembered for being the quintessential wife, mother, grandmother and friend who put everyone else before herself, lovingly and without hesitation. She greatly believed in education and she and her late husband sacrificed much so their children could get a strong education.
Even facing her diagnosis, she never wanted to be a burden and still put everyone’s needs and wishes before her own. Her inspiration, courage and faith as she faced her own mortality is a powerful lesson to all who knew her and will leave a lasting impact on how to live life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, James J. ‘Buddy’ Grimes, in 2003, a son, Jeffrey Grimes, in 1974, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are a son, James J. Grimes, Jr. of Kingwood Township, NJ with whom she lived; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy M. and Deborah Grimes of Ringoes, NJ; two grandchildren, Jeffrey A. and Katelyn Grimes; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Krysztof Kaczynski on Wednesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Victories Church, Route 519, Baptistown, NJ under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Everyone is kindly asked to meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Church on Wednesday. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ. Visitation AT THE CHURCH will take place Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.
