Rosemarie Virginia Motta, age 84 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Raritan Township, NJ surround by her loving family just a day after celebrating her sixty-fifth wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Peter.
Born in Weehawken, NJ, February 10, 1933, daughter of the late James and Carmella “Maime” Verasco Rudd, she had formerly lived for many years in Delaware Township, NJ having grown up in Weehawken and North Bergen, NJ. She worked for many years as a bank teller for Hunterdon County National Bank.
Rosemarie will be forever remembered as a truly selfless soul. The matriarch of the family, she always put her family and friends first and foremost. The Motta household was a sanctuary for many children growing up as Rosemarie always made sure that her children’s friends were taken care of with whatever they might need. Additionally, strangers and the poor were often the recipient of Rosemarie’s love and generosity of spirit.
A communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, Rosemarie was very fond of Mother Teresa, and was elated she lived to see her canonized as a Saint. Saint Teresa’s words and mantra of always “being kind” sum up Rosemarie’s legacy that her family and friends will ensure lives on through their actions and words.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Rudd, Jr. in 1977 and a grandson, Mark James Motta in 2016.
Surviving are her loving husband of sixty-five years with whom she joined hands in marriage on February 17, 1952, Peter Motta; her children and their spouses, Peter and Marielena Motta of Raritan Township, NJ, Paula and Joseph Mangarella of Port Charlotte, FL and Pamela and Scott Cameron of Raritan Township, NJ; eight grandchildren, Lazarus and wife, Andrea Mason, Peter Motta, Dolan and husband, Salvatore DiChiara, Brett and wife, Ann Mason, Joey Mason, Donald Savacool III, Jordan Cameron and Angela Cameron; seven great grandchildren, Anthony, Dominic, Gianna, Emily, Archer, Leah and Christopher; and many extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Timothy Christy will take place on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the care and direction of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Rosemarie will lie in repose at the funeral home on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. as well as on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
