Russell Joseph Triano, age 64 years, of Piscataway, NJ, died on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Born on June 22, 1956 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of Irene Zolner Triano and the late Gus Triano. He was raised in Union, NJ and had lived in Cranford prior to moving to Piscataway.
A talented steamfitter and pipefitter, Russell worked for Merck & Co, Inc., Rahway, NJ for many years. In 1984, Russell started his own plumbing business which he continued to run in addition to his employment at Merck. He was known by his loyal customers to be dependable, fair, and able to fix anything that came his way.
Russell’s perfectionist attitude in work carried over into all that he did. He was a true jack of all trades and could fix anything. Russell loved to be innovative and always had a project going on at home; whether it was gardening or building something, he put all his energy into his work to ensure the best possible outcome.
He had many hobbies, with golfing and playing the guitar at the top of his list. Russell would golf whenever and wherever, and greatly enjoyed his time on the course with friends. He also attended several US Open tournaments throughout the years.
Russell’s sporting adventures also included fishing, and rooting for the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers, and the Dallas Cowboys, the latter being the source of many jokes among his friends given that fact that he was a ‘Jersey boy’.
Family was important to Russell. His wife and daughters were his pride and joy. He was so excited when he became a grandfather to his adored Olivia, and was greatly looking forward to his new grandson’s birth in a few months.
Though his time on this earth was cut short, and many would say he and they were robbed of a future so bright and full of wonderful experiences to come, Russell leaves a mark on the hearts of all who ever came in contact with him. His kindness, laughter, humility and diligence in all that he did will never be forgotten.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Kathy Jean Houck Triano, with whom he joined hands in marriage on August 29, 1981 in Elizabeth, NJ; his daughters and sons-in-law, April and Matt Caswell and Lisa Triano and Frank Moran; his granddaughter, Olivia Caswell; his siblings, Kenneth Triano and Don and his wife, Tammy Triano; many nieces and nephews along with several extended family members; and many dear friends.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Russell’s life will take place rain or shine on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Triano residence, 129 Blackford Avenue, Piscataway, NJ.
