Samatha Kodali, age 23 years, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.

A procession will then go to Ewing Crematory, 78 Scotch Road, Ewing, NJ, where a Funeral Pooja will take place beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by family remembrances and then cremation at 2:45 p.m. All are welcome to join the family as they celebrate Samatha’s life and legacy.

You are encouraged to visit Samatha’s permanent life celebration site at www.wrightfamily.com to light a candle of hope, leave messages of condolence, share words of comfort and recollection, and post photographs of her life.

A couple of years ago, I worked with Samatha for a summer when she interned at the company I work for. When she worked with us, she was shy; even unsure at times why we liked her so much. But we did. Because she was incredibly intelligent and curious. Because she would genuinely laugh with us, despite barely knowing us. Because despite her shy demeanor, when you’d really connect with her, even for a moment, you’d feel her spirit warming the room. I try to keep touch with all the interns I’ve worked with, just so they know the door is open if they need professional guidance or insight, and whether or not it was intended, Samatha and I became friends. We became friends who saw the world in the same way; sometimes it felt like no one else did. When I heard the news, I was haunted. I imagine I always will be. Samatha is so deeply missed by so many. For as much as I hurt to lose her, I can only imagine the pain her family is experiencing. To her family: I am so, deeply sorry for your loss. To Samatha: wherever you are, I love you and thank you for being my friend. I miss you.

I knew Samatha in her time at Rutgers Prep. She was genuine and good, a bright smile in the day. I remember her joy in animals and her kindness to others. That's a powerful legacy for a young woman who did her part to make the world a nicer place.

I got to know Samatha as her college counselor at RPS. She was a star at RPS and more importantly, she made those around her feel like stars. My heart is broken, but I have to believe her star will continue to shine and influence us in positive ways. My deepest condolences to the Kodali family and Samatha's friends.

I was so very sorry to hear of the loss of Samatha. Samatha was a bright light at RPS - unfailingly kind and disarmingly funny. I always felt so lucky to be her teacher and advisor and share that much time with her. Not a year has gone by since when I have not talked about Samatha and a beautiful insight she had about one of the books we read in class to my students and I will continue to do so. May her memory be eternal. Sending prayers to her family and gratitude for sharing this beautiful person with us.

Sam was one of my residents when I was a resident advisor at Washington U. She never failed to make me smile with a witty comment, and her hard work and brilliance cannot be understated. I remember her as someone incredibly kind, gentle, and warm, and she consistently brought so much joy to our community. I remember sharing long study nights in the library with other students, passionate conversations about happenings in school, and late night laughs in the common room. She will be deeply missed. Sending hugs to all of her friends and family.

I am so sorry to learn about the loss of Samatha. While I did not have the opportunity to teach her at Rutgers Prep, I counted on her leadership and kindness. She was a warm and welcoming presence to visitors and younger students. Samatha radiated kindness. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

It's hard to believe my favorite little sister is no more. She is the most joyous person in the family. Many unforgettable memories I had with her which I can't forget thru out my life. We travelled to NY and Virginia together. We used to share bed and hug each other. Used to go out for drive to have ice cream during summer time.
