Sharon L. Courounis, age 56 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Denver, CO, November 12, 1958, daughter of the late Dyer Weed, Jr. and Zenaide Abare Weed, she had resided in Kingwood Township for the past three years, having formerly lived in Clinton, NJ and grown up in Millington, NJ.
A 1976 graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School, Sharon had been employed at the Nassau Inn, Princeton, NJ. As dedicated as she was to her professional life, her personal life took precedence. From a young age she had wanted to be a mother, and ultimately that became her life’s work, to which she happily, and gratefully, devoted herself to entirely. She was a loving, kind, generous woman, whose passion for being a mother to her own children, and grandmother to the two most beautiful grandchildren, was inspirational.
Sharon loved life, and lived deeply. A natural mother, she was “everyone’s mom” and enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, and taking care of those in need, whether they were 2 or 4-legged. While her hobbies and interests varied she most loved to be surrounded by friends and family, laughing, and partying like a rockstar.
Upon reflecting on her medical condition and its inevitable outcome, Sharon replied, “I did in fifty years what most can’t accomplish in a hundred!”
Surviving are her loving children, Jason and wife Christina Courounis of Havelock, NC and Joanne Courounis of Kingwood Township, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Evelyn and Ethan Courounis who loved to visit their Yaya; a brother, Dyer Weed III of Glen Gardner, NJ; two sisters, Stephanie and husband John “Chop” Chiappa of Sandbrook, NJ and June Langley and husband Dave Shea of Edenton, NC; her former husband and still close friend, Scott Courounis and many friends.
A Celebration of Sharon’s life will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Razberry’s Banquet & Conference Center, 834 State Route 12, Frenchtown, NJ 08825 for close family and friends. Everyone is respectfully requested to not wear anything black, but rather relaxed and comfortable clothing, preferably in brighter colors as this is a celebration of her life.
Arrangements are under the care of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ 08822. Everyone is invited to visit Sharon’s permanent memorial page at www.wrightfamily.com where they can share stories and photos and send a public or private message of condolence to the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter, 574 Stamets Road, Milford, NJ 08848.
