Siegrun Ranucci, age 85 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Known by her family as “Mama” and “Oma”, this beloved mother, wife, and grandmother is survived by her husband, Joseph, and her two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Denise Ranucci and Dr. Anthony Matteo, and Dr. Colette Ranucci and Bernie Willis; her four grandchildren, Lauren, Trent, Owen, and Max; her sister, Rosemarie Fischer; a sister-in-law, Irene Miggliacio, and brother-in-law, Louis Ranucci; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and many dear friends.
Siegrun followed her dreams and passions. Having lived through the war in Germany, her childhood was incredibly difficult. At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States, and found her way to New York, managing to get a job in research at Seton Hall University and then at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
She was adventurer, an explorer, and a fearless globetrotter. Once married and becoming a mother, she turned all her passion and energy towards her family. She selflessly gave up her own ambitions, loved her family deeply, and gained the most satisfaction through the success and happiness of her children and grandchildren.
Siegrun loved nature, especially the plants and animals that made the world so beautiful for her. She could be captivated by the smallest blossom, sunlight striking snow, a butterfly in the mist, a bird nesting against a branch, or a honeybee in flight.
Of late, she especially loved the beautiful fall colors of the Aspen leaves as they turned a deep yellow, whispering her name gently in the breeze. Her family is eternally grateful that she was able to take in that majestic beauty one last time with all of them at her side in September.
Words can never do justice to the love, appreciation, gratitude, and debt the entire family owes to this beautiful woman. In time, as the pain, sadness, and grief settle in, they hope to find her in their hearts, and surrounding each of them in nature; in the woods, among the flowers and the butterflies. That is where her heart always was, and that is where she will remain forever…for her cherished family and for all who were fortunate to have been touched by this gentle soul.
Although her physical body is no longer in this world, she will be with us in spirit and in love, always and forever.
